In this 2.5 hour workshop I’ll introduce you to Jesmonite AC100 and it’s various uses, and show you how to use it to create your own terrazzo placemat to take home and use on your dining table!

During this workshop I will show you:

  • How to mix and pigment Jesmonite AC100 with your own choice of colours

  • How to pour and cast Jesmonite AC100 using silicone moulds

  • How to make your own coloured shards with Jesmonite AC100 to make your desired terrazzo design

  • How to safely demould your creations

  • How to wet sand your pieces to reveal a beautiful, terrazzo design

  • Tips for how to finish your pieces to give a more professional look

  • How to seal your pieces to protect them against general wear and tear

This workshop is aimed at beginners so no previous experience working with Jesmonite is necessary. You will start with a smaller mould to make a practice piece before moving on to your finished piece.

All materials and equipment needed for the activity is provided.

Jesmonite needs to be sealed to protect from wear and tear so each attendee is provided with a kit at the end of the workshop containing acrylic sealer and a cloth to take home and apply to their pieces following the workshop.

Workshop FAQs

What should I wear to the workshop?

Working with jesmonite can be a wee bit messy. I advise wearing something comfortable that you don’t mind getting dirty, avoiding anything with big sleeves that may get in the way. Bringing an apron with you is also a good idea. I advise removing any rings/watches/bracelets while working. Gloves and safety glasses will be available to use.

Can children attend the workshop?

Workshops are for ages 12 and up, and all under 16s must be accompanied by a participating adult.

If you book a place on this workshop and can no longer attend, notify me with over two weeks notice to get a full refund. After that, refunds will only be given if the place can be filled. Places can also be transferred to family/friend by providing me with their name and email address.
